As a follow-up to my previous post, Remembering the Nurse, in which I paid tribute to the memory of a dear friend, Marianna Schroeder (1933-2022), whose distinctive voice is familiar to fans of Glenn Gould’s 1967 radio documentary, The Idea of North, I have a special treat for you.
While going through my home movies, I located a twenty-nine second clip of Marianna showing me some precious art pieces from her time spent in the Canadian Arctic. You can hear her talking about the sculpture of a lone figure and of the materials used (ivory and whale bone). I hope you will enjoy this memory.
That is quite beautiful art.It reminds me of some of the carvings I saw while in the Arctic. Thank you Penny!💕
